Porto & the Douro River Valley
This once-mighty nation of explorers offers a 
grandeur that far outstrips its modest size. In a given day you can surf big waves, stroll time-worn cobblestone streets, be awed by a still-splendid palace and while away the night with a fine vintage and the plaintive sounds of fado. Our journey began in the wildly beautiful Douro River Valley, home to some of the first cultivated vineyards on the planet, and the historic city of Porto.
