I don't know why TA doesn't feature this coat more prominently. It's perfect for cold, damp weather such as we often have in Michigan. It looks and feels terrific. The contrast brown is darker than in the picture, but I think the coat actually looks better for it. It looks great whether you're going formal or casual.
Bought this for my husband after he saw it in the catalog and couldn't stop thinking about it. It arrived within a few days and he hasn't stopped wearing it since. It's exactly what he wanted - a blazer style black leather jacket that should last a long time.
Great but Tight
A fine coat in almost every respect: warm enough for cold winter days in New Mexico, a bit heavy, but not much heavier than the leather car coat it was to replace. It looked great, too, as long as I was standing up. But it was too tight in the shoulders, especially when I was in the car with my hands on the steering wheel. And I'm not a big-shouldered guy. Quite reluctantly, I sent it back.
I like this simple yet stylish jacket because it has a good fit and isn't to thick or bulky. The leather seems good and I'm sure that a conditioner will only make it better.I think it's a little overpriced but on sale is a great buy.
I considered this coat for a long time before actually purchasing it. There was very little of this quality on the market at this price that I liked. I am pleased with the quality of the coat overall. I would have liked a much stronger contrasting color, like the picture shows. It would stand out more with offset thread or more visible contrasting areas. It is very comfortable to wear and I actually look forward to cold days that provide me an opportunity to put it on.
I purchased this coat over a year ago. I ran into a clothing retailer that out of the blue asked me where I got this coat. Standing on the street he inspected the coat...a bit awkward...but told me of how high the quality was. He was very impressed. I very much enjoy this coat and this was a good purchase.
best coat ever?
This is a substantial coat, the heft and feel of it is very male. I don't care where it's made...it's very well made. Great stitching. I was a little concerned that the brown by the pockets would stand out but as others have said, it is darker than it appears online and actually adds to the character of the coat. Did I say this was a substantial coat?...might be the best coat I have owned. I'm 5'8"", 180 and ordered the medium, it was too tight in the chest and shoulders so I shipped it back for a large...fits perfectly. BTW how easy is the return process, WOW and no additional UPS charges. Highly recommend this coat...did I say it was a substantial coat? I love it, so does my wife. BTW I waited for a sale:)
weighs a ton.
This is a heavy car interior leather made into a ho-hum coat. Too stiff, uncomfortable and the brown piece is much darker then the pic and looks like a mistake.

Not What I Expected
I didn't like the coat and have returned it. The main reason I didn't it was the waxy, cheap feel of the leather. At this price, is should have been softer. Also, the lining is much too light for a cold weather coat. If they would use a better grade of leather, a warmer lining and make it all one color, that would be better. Also, I find a plain zip front to me more convenient than a button up flap. Eventually, buttons fall off. The outside pockets are a little small, too. Runs small. I weigh 185 and an XL fit me. I really wanted to like this coat, but feel the catalog description was better than the actual coat.
This is a classy, warm and stylish coat. It will keep you warm during the worst of winter (in the lower 48) with a bunch of panache. My only gripe is with the zipper....but we have made up and are now friends. I think I might gift my son with one this Christmas!
The picture on line does this coat an injustice. It is much more handsome. Like every TA coat I own, the buttons require quick repair. And the zipper is very "fussy" at first. But this coat really works. Unless you require perfection out of the box, buy it. TA, please get your suppliers to step up the button/zipper thing. You can do better
