Jasper Shawl Collar Cardigan
Details
On the Athabasca.
The last stretch of the Yellowhead Highway into Jasper, Alberta.
Head to the outfitters for gear I didn’t bring along. I’m on the river within the hour.
I cast and reel, cast and reel. The pulse of fishermen everywhere.
The river tumbles and flattens. An osprey circles and dives.
A hundred feet or so upriver, another angler appears.
“Nice sweater,” she says and nods and I nod and we cast again.
And so the day goes on.
