Grand Lake Suede Trucker Jacket

Eavesdrop on truckers using their CB radios and you’ll hear them talking about dodging “roller skates” (small cars) and “Smokey Bears” (highway police), “bumper stickers” (cars following too closely), and the “granny lane.” Why this mini-lesson in big-rig slang? Because this hard-driving jacket of ours is itself a big rig, and based on a short-waisted classic denim style that was associated with American truckers back in the day. We’ve burnished and aged the garment’s edges, for a nicely worn-in look, but most importantly we’ve made it out of an extremely sturdy cowhide that will keep you warm on winter mornings before your engine has had a chance to heat up. Two exterior chest pockets, two lower handwarmer pockets. Two interior pockets. Classic fit. Professionally leather clean. Imported.

Still waiting on refund

Unfortunately, the fit was off for my husband, so I had to return it. It has been over two weeks and I’m still waiting on my refund despite speaking with a customer service rep who said that they had received it. I also followed my tracking and saw that it had been delivered.

Time marches on, albeit at a snails pace

I ordered this jacket in early August. I went on line and put in the order. After 3 weeks went by I had not received notice that it was processed let alone shipped. I called the customer service number and inquired as to the status of my order. I was informed that due to the implementation of a new system, they could tell me that it was indeed ordered but no info regarding processing or ship date. The agent informed me that she was authorized to reimburse my shipping charges and would do so . About a week later I got the notice that my shipping reimbursement had been processed. I then called the customer service number and inquired about my order. The agent had informed that my order had been cancelled and a request was being processed for a refund. When I asked why the order was cancelled she responded that either the item was out of stock or the order was in the system too long and cancelled. I then asked her to check to see if the item was in stock. She informed that it was, indeed, “back in stock” . I then asked her to not process my refund, apply for it to ordering this jacket as originally intended. She put me on hold, came back a while later and told me that she could not apply it since a refund had been requested and order cancelled. I asked for help in resolving this and she told me I could purchase it again. I gave her my card info again, even though she had to have it on the refund request. When the agent came back on the line, she informed me that the jacket was now on sale but added that I would have to pay for shipping again. When I told her that the shipping on the original order was waived because it was a month since I ordered it, she asked me to hold. When she came back on the line she said that she checked with her manager and since I would be saving $ 149 due to the sale , shipping would not be waived . I asked to speak with the manager and was told she would either call me back or contact me via email. I authorized the purchase with the shipping charges included and figured I would discuss it with the manager . I was more interested in discussing this whole process with the manager than the shipping charges and I would have discussed both had she ever tried to contact me. I received notice that my reimbursement for the original purchase was processed about 3 Weeks after the day they informed me they cancelled my order. I had called about 2 weeks after I checked with my credit card company to see if it had been processed and it had not been received, when I called Territory Ahead to discuss the original reimbursement, I was put on hold and when the agent returned she told me that her supervisor had sent a request to the department that processes reimbursements. I asked to speak to that supervisor and and guess what she said? Someone will call me back or reach out to me via email. and, you guessed it , never heard back……I waited a week and called back again , still no update on my jacket, once again someone was going to reach out to me. Long story ; a little bit shorter, my jacket arrived on October 8, 2023. Ironically 2 months almost to the day I ordered it. I rarely take the time to complete these surveys or feedback requests. If a member of management had contacted me I probably would not have filled this out. As a former, retired now, President and COO of a very large and successful Supply Chain Management Company I would want to know the true impact of the issues caused by system changes. I also thought that, since I lead our organization through numerous system implementations, I might actually be able to offer some real solutions to issues they were trying to overcome. I am hoping this note gets shared with the management team at Territory Ahead so they can adjust their approach. Changing a culture is difficult in and of itself. It’s impossible if the team members are not willing to assist with change. So, I was traveling when the jacket arrived. My neighbor secured it for me. I returned on the evening of the 19th of October. The jacket is made of a fine goat suede. It is heavy material and very warm. It has a flannel lining. I am 5’10” tall and weigh 165 lbs , the medium fits like a glove, with one exception; the sleeves come down to the middle knuckles of my hands. My shirt sleeve length is 33”. Normally , I would just have a tailor who has experience in altering suede and leather adjust the sleeves. But, I have put all the effort and expense into this garment that I am going to. I went into the easy and convenient return system. I was informed that my return was being considered for approval. I called customer service to inquire just what had to be considered, was put on hold, when she returned she told me that her manager believed that the refund department was “running behind” . I asked to speak with her manager and was told she will reach out to me via email. That was 5 days ago. Over the last few years; I have purchased 3 high quality leather Jackets from Territory Ahead and they have served me well. I also must admit; they were purchased with relative ease also. Going to be a while before I consider purchasing anything from them.
