Kumana Ikat Overshirt
There’s a type of pattern that lends itself to the well-traveled seeker of special places. It’s distinctive, different, a little exotic. It’s ikat, which uses a traditional dyeing technique to produce hazy repeats with telltale feathered edges. Ikat shirts are often done—when they’re done at all—in tropical fabrics, but here we’ve gone heavier. The result is a more substantial variation that goes well over a t-shirt and works in the mountain air or against cool ocean breezes. The color scheme has a dusty beauty: shades of tobacco, merlot and teal against a natural ground. The fabric is made on specialized ikat looms in India, where the garment itself is crafted, too. Beautiful, engraved wooden buttons. Classic fit. 100% cotton. Machine wash. Imported.
