Initially issued by the navy in the 1930’s to the Chief Petty Officers, the CPO soon spread across the military and into civilian life. Heavy-weight wool beautifully tailored. Shirt is roomy but not too roomy and drapes perfectly over a sweater. I hesitantly bought the black and was pleasantly surprised by how stylish it is. I'm 5-9, 160, at an athletic 70 years old. I would like another in navy and would buy it in a second.
